Well Check

Child at a well-child visitWell child visits are the foundation of your child’s lifelong health. They’re not just about vaccines — they’re an opportunity to track development, catch concerns early, and give parents the guidance they need at every stage of childhood.

Important: A well visit and a sick visit are different appointment types. If a new medical concern arises during your well check, Dr. Vani must document and charge for both. Your insurance may apply additional costs for the office visit portion — this is standard medical billing practice.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I schedule a well visit?

We recommend scheduling well visits 2–4 weeks in advance, especially for infants and toddlers. School and sports physicals fill up quickly in late summer — book those early. You are strongly encouraged to schedule your child’s next visit at the end of each current visit.

Can I bring up a sick concern at a well visit?

You can, but addressing a new acute concern during a well visit may result in a separate office-visit charge in addition to the well visit charge. Based on the issue, Dr. Vani may postpone the wellness visit to a different day. It is sometimes better to schedule a separate same-day sick visit if your child is unwell.

My child is behind on well visits. Is that okay?

It’s never too late to catch up. Dr. Vani will work with you to get back on track with screenings, vaccines, and developmental monitoring. There is no judgment — what matters is getting your child the care they need now.

Does my child need a well visit every year?

Yes. The AAP recommends annual well visits for children 3 years and older, and more frequent visits in infancy. These visits are essential for tracking growth, development, mental health, and staying current on vaccines.

What should I bring to the well visit?

Current insurance card, photo ID, your child’s immunization records (if from another provider), and any questions or concerns. If you have a picture or video of a specific concern (or medication), that will help. Arrive 15 minutes early, and complete online forms ahead of time.
