PEDIATRIC SERVICES

Office Visits

The umbrella for most pediatric visits. Whether your child is sick today or needs ongoing care for a chronic condition, office visits cover it all. Care & Cure Pediatrics offers same-day sick visit appointments for established and new patients.

HOW OFFICE VISITS WORK

One Visit, One Focus

Same-Day Sick Visits

Fevers, ear infections, coughs, rashes, sore throats, stomach bugs and more — your child can be seen the same day for the one concern that needs attention now.

Follow-Up Visits

A recheck after an illness, a medication or weight follow-up, or a review of test results is also an office visit — scheduled and billed as its own visit so Dr. Vani can properly assess your child’s progress.

Chronic & Ongoing Care

Ongoing management of conditions such as asthma, allergies, ADHD, and weight — each with its own dedicated visit so nothing is rushed or overlooked.

One Concern Per Visit

So Dr. Vani can give your child her full attention, each visit focuses on a single primary concern. Have more than one? We’re glad to help — simply book a separate visit so each gets the time it deserves.

COMMON REASONS

When to Book a Sick Visit

Fever

Any fever in a child 0–3 months. High fever in older children, or fever lasting more than 2–3 days.

Ear Pain

Ear pulling, crying, difficulty sleeping — possible ear infection requiring evaluation and treatment.

Cough & Cold

Persistent cough, wheezing, difficulty breathing, or colds that are getting worse rather than better.

Rash

New skin rashes, hives, suspected allergic reactions, or rashes accompanied by fever.

Vomiting & Diarrhea

Persistent GI symptoms, signs of dehydration, blood in stool, or symptoms in a young infant.

Eye Concerns

Pink eye (conjunctivitis), eye discharge, redness, or swelling.

FEVER GUIDELINES

Know When Fever Needs Attention

0–3 Months: Any Fever

Any temperature above 100.4°F (38°C) in an infant under 3 months is a medical emergency. Call us or go to the ER immediately.

3–12 Months

Fever above 101°F warrants a call. Fever above 103°F, or fever with other symptoms, should be evaluated the same day.

Any Age: High Fever

Fever of 104–105°F at any age should be evaluated the same day, even if the child otherwise appears well.

Call 911 or go to the ER immediately

If your child has difficulty breathing, is unresponsive, has a seizure, has a stiff neck, has a purple or spotted rash, or you believe there is a life-threatening emergency — do not call the office first. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

ALSO PART OF OFFICE VISITS

Specialized & Ongoing Care

Office visits also cover focused, ongoing care for these areas. Several have their own dedicated pages with more detail:

Allergies & Asthma Care

Testing, action plans, and ongoing management of allergies, eczema, and asthma.

ADHD, Autism & Neurological

Evaluation and care for attention, learning, developmental, and neurological concerns, with referral to pediatric neurology when specialized care is needed.

Mental & Behavioral Health

Screening and support for anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, and emotional wellbeing.

Weight Management

Family-centered guidance on healthy growth, nutrition, and activity.

AFTER HOURS

After-Hours Nurse Advice Line

An after-hours nurse advice line is available for established patients. For non-emergency guidance when the office is closed, the nursing team can help you determine whether your child needs to be seen urgently or can wait until the office opens.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a same-day sick visit?

Call us at (972) 893-1192 as early as possible on the day you need to be seen, or book online. Same-day availability is limited — early calls get the first slots.

My child arrived late — will we still be seen?

If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, your appointment may need to be rescheduled. We do our best to accommodate, but late arrivals affect other patients. Please call ahead if you are running late so we can assess options.

Can I use the patient portal to describe symptoms and get advice?

The patient portal is for brief questions only — it is not appropriate for acute sick concerns or new symptoms. For sick visits, please call the office or book online. Portal messages are reviewed within 1–2 business days.

When should I go to the ER instead?

Go directly to the ER or call 911 for: difficulty breathing, unresponsiveness, seizures, suspected poisoning, severe allergic reaction, deep cuts requiring stitches, head injuries with loss of consciousness, purple or spotted rash with fever, or any situation you feel is life-threatening.
